Wrapping Mishap

17/Dec/2013 – Wrapping Mishap

Ahhhh I thought Steve would be an expert wrapper since he works with Santa at the North Pole and all. Apparently in his attempt to decorate our house he got himself trapped under the wrapping paper. Oops.

Letters from Santa

14/Dec/2013 – Letters from Santa

Steve took the kids’ wish lists to Santa last night and he came back with a personalized letter for each kid from the jolly man in red himself! We also found him sitting on the mirror holding a paper countdown of days left til Christmas. I read the letters to each kid and they are very happy to hear that they are good little boys and girls!

Happy 7th Birthday Max!

13/Dec/2013 – Happy 7th Birthday Max!

I say this with every birthday entry I write. I just cannot believe how fast time flies by. My first born is SEVEN YEARS OLD. I remember how excited, scared, and totally unprepared for the adventure that we were about to embark on. I had my BFF Michelle by my side and she took such great care of Jon and I as we got the hang of the new parents thing. My mom was all the way in Nova Scotia and you never realize how much you need her until you become a parent yourself. Michelle was a great stand in. She still remembers it all too – even the little “max” bracelet I wore from the time I found out I was pregnant.

It’s hard to believe that squishy 6 pound, 3 ounce baby boy has turned out to be a handsome little dude. He is in grade one, excelling with his reading, writing, and math skills. He is so eager to learn. His favorite ways to pass the time is video gaming on the wii or iPad: his favorite games are anything with Super Mario or Minecraft. Max is such an easy, happy kid who will always choose fruits and veggies over sweets, let’s his creative side come out through coloring and art work, and a true homebody. If he doesn’t have to go anywhere, he won’t. Bedtimes are 7:30 on school nights but he gets to stay up past 9:00 PM on weekends. When he does stay up, we cuddle up in mommy and daddy’s bed to watch a show of his choice (mommy tends to doze off.) Max is a pokey little fella in no big rush to get through things: he is often the last one to be ready for school and the last kid to come out those doors at the end of the day. He can drag homework out like nobody’s business yet can get right into a game no problem. Little monkey.

We celebrated Max’s birthday with a birthday party last weekend but we still had a few things in store for him today. He had a card and cash from Gramma and Grandpa, and a present from godmother Noella. He was so pleased. We also went out to the Airdrie Light Festival with friends and rode a train, played outside, and had hot chocolate.

Here are the kids warming up after their evening out:

We woke up to find Steve taped to the living room window this morning! Tonight the kids each gave Steve their Christmas wish lists and asked him to take the letters to Santa Claus.

Day 12

12/Dec/2013 – Day 12

This morning we woke up to find Steve all tangled in the blinds. Silly Steve! Doesn’t he know those cords are a hazard to kids AND elves??
